I went to a wine festival, part of the 2007 Harvest Fest at the Abbey Winery in Cañon City, CO with a bunch of Pentaxians. We spotted this old barn house at the back of the winery and we couldn’t resist taking a few shots. Its was the middle of the day and the sun was strong with long cast shadows. I had the 43 ltd on the K100D. It wasn’t until downloading that I got the urge to crop one and convert it to a B&W. I think I will hang one up in the house.

I hardly get to take the DA 10-17mm fisheye out for a spin. Its such a cool lens, yet you can’t use it too much, otherwise you get sick of it. The sun came out after a wet spell of spring and I was right in the middle of downtown Denver with the lens pointed straight up. Before I knew I had several shots with the skyscrapers arching over me. Yes, this is bliss and this is what the fisheye is for!

Its not usual for me to shoot flowers with a zoom. But I already had the Tamron Di 28-75 f/2.8 loaded on my ist D. The flowers looked cheery and were just too inviting. I close focused to fill the frame at 75mm end.

It was a nice sunny day today here at Denver. The thermometer hit 60’s after a long spell of snowy winter. And hence it was a great day to take the kids to the Denver Zoo. The cheetah had a perfect pose for me while enjoying the sun. I am glad I had packed the FA* 300 f/4.5 with my ist D. Its a long, bulky lens, but definitely hand holdable.

I couldn’t help switching over to the Pentax DA 10-17mm fisheye zoom once I was inside the Frederic C Hamilton building of the Denver Art Museum, otherwise known as DAM. The buidling is an incredible piece of architecture, with no right angles (90 degrees) in corners anywhere. It sure is dizzy when you look down from the top balcony.

The D FA 50 macro is a cool lens. I know people have complained about the build construction of this lens. Its definitely nowhere near the A, FA or F 50 macro. But I think its quite decent, very lightweight and most importantly, combined with the K100D, I think I can snatch some handheld macros that I couldn’t with other macro lenses.

Its pumpkin time and we were at a local farm this weekend to pick up the autumn goodies. Snatched this one with Sigma 18-125 on K100D.

It was a perfect fall day for a hike here in the Colorado mountains. Its awesome to be alone in front of those majestic snow covered peaks. The DA 14 I had packed came in handy.

Fall is in full swing here and I spent one afternoon on my hands and knees, taking handheld macros of the fallen leaves. All of these were taken with D FA 100 f/2.8 macro – a beautiful lens!

The K 200 1:2.5 is a beast. And its a little work with the green button on the ist D to get the exposure right. But the manual focusing is a treat and the results are quite something! Here is 4 yr old dodging her dad’s photo taking madness.
